The 2018-19 winner of the Michael Hayden Pupil of the Year was Robbie Kipare

On 26th June, 1986, Mr. Michael Hayden, a past pupil of St. Michael’s, returned to Longford to visit his Alma Mater, for a very special occasion.
Michael had presented the school with a gift of £2,000 to initiate a Pupil of the Year Award. A native of Earl Street, Michael had spent most of his life in London but he had never forgotten his roots in Longford Town. He had regularly visited his friends and family and kept in contact through the local papers.
Michael’s generous gesture led to the initiation of The Pupil of the Year Award. It is given to a school leaver on the basis of general conduct and behaviour, application to school work, and community and sporting involvement..
The recipient receives a plaque and a cheque.
